Social Recruitment & Executive Search: The Art Form of Personal Relationships

Relationships Social Recruiting Ashton & Associates RecruitingAs recruiters the one question we get asked a lot is: where do you find your people?

Even though we are increasingly reliant on the internet, building relationships is essentially the how, the what, the where, and the why of our business at Ashton & Associates Recruiting.

A recent interactive conference headed up by a panel of academics and social media experts took a good look at what technology is doing to our relationships. And this is just as apparent in our business world as in our personal lives.

The Four Way Test

The Four Way Test is the single more important guiding principle behind Rotary International. For me it forms the foundation of all my relationships as it can be applied to any aspect of life. Whether it’s building a relationship with myself, my family, my co-worker, a client or job seeker, or someone I meet at a party or networking events, these four questions guide my thoughts, words and actions:

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned

Technology is degrading the quality of our relationships.

No surprise here. People are spending far more time chatting, which is not the same as having a face-to-face conversation and experience ‘real’ time with another person.

You may have thousands of friends on Facebook, but let’s face it, they are not really your friends. And the ones who are really need to hear your voice from time to time. There is no way you can even start, never mind maintain, strong relationships without putting yourself out there in person.

Professional working relationships.

Most of the respondents in the study in relationship to social media and modern Internet communications said they are happier about the ability to use tools to communicate with colleagues and business related people. The main reason behind this was the flexibility resulting from modern communications technologies.

Expert Recruitment strategies.

Social profiling, another specialization of Ashton & Associates Recruiting, is essential to reduce the amount of time employers spend in the early stages of recruitment.

If you are a professional looking to build your career, it is imperative that you have a professional and complete social profile on LinkedIn, including a good head shot . Where you use Facebook to communicate on a more personal note, be sure that you are very careful about who you allow to view your personal Facebook timeline.

Skype and other video calling technologies are an excellent way to enhance your communication’s value. Visual contact is extremely important as you get to see their eyes and facial expressions while hearing their voice at the same time.

Ashton & Associates’s strength is in building personal relationships while also creating new Social Recruitment & Executive Search strategies.
